Nazara Technologies Collaborates with CSE to develop games around Virat Kohli

Nazara Technologies has signed an exclusive deal with CSE (a sister concern of Cornerstone Sport & Entertainment Pvt Ltd) to develop, distribute and market games around Virat Kohli for 3 years. Known for developing innovative and pathbreaking mobile games, Nazara Technologies will have exclusive rights to build exciting games around the cricketer across digital platforms including mobile, web and DTH.

The games will be available across prominent digital and mobile platforms, and will be accessible to audiences across the globe. Nazara Technologies aims at developing three to five games this year based on Virat Kohli. Users will be able to download the games free of cost with revenues being generated through monetisation models such as advertising, sponsorships and in-app purchases.

According to a recent KPMG-FICCI report, the Indian gaming industry was estimated to be Rs. 1,920 crore in 2013 and is expected be worth Rs. 4,060 crore by 2018 – a CAGR of over 16%. This growth would largely be driven by the burgeoning smartphone market in India which according to a recent study by IDC is the fastest growing smartphone market in Asia Pacific. While the smartphone penetration continues to rise an increase in consumption of mobile internet and the introduction of 4G would also play a crucial role in the mobile gaming industry growing at an unprecedented rate over the next few years.
